Ludwig von Drake, the scatterbrained, finance-conscious personality who made his debut as the host of Walt's anthology television series when it was renamed "Wonderful World of Color", hosts this trip down memory lane recalling the hit songs that he wrote. The short bounces between von Drake's indirect introductions and stop-motion-animated sequences of paper cut-outs that bring the music to life. Along with von Drake's fictional tour, viewers are taken on an actual tour through the musical styles of the first sixty years or so of last century. The tunes land somewhere between parody and homage. They include rag, Bing Crosby-style crooning, boogie woogie, and, most memorably, "Puppy Love" à la Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. This is one of the collection's more dated cartoons (although von Drake's ramblings about stereophonic sound don't seem all that different from a modern technophile's babble), but those who are fond of the popular music of previous generations should get a kick out of it.

Allures is a spectacular sequence of moving figures and points, a film which reaches out to the cosmic and the spiritual, where the spatial dimension becomes transcendental.
This is an amazingly clever and unique cartoon that must have been seen by Terry Gilliam (of "Monty Python" fame), as the cartoons he m ade for the show seemed strongly inspired by this wacky film. Not only is the art style very, very similar (with cut out pictures being animated) but the kooky style of narration and the many oddities about the film were later seen on the Python show. For example, offering an item and giving the price for it and the place to mail it (both changing each time they are shown) was used by the show on several occasions. There also is a very subversive sexuality about it and the animation for the announcer is amazingly similar for illiam's work as well.

The film's orginality lies in its strong graphical effects: he did the drawings with a paintbrush and introduced areas of colour in patches with brush strokes, straight onto the celluloid. His technique superseded the conventional 'hard' figures since the manipulation of the patches of colour diffused the outlines of the characters.
